The Best Honeymoon Destinations from the UAE

Updated August 2026 · 8 min read

The right honeymoon destination is a function of one thing: when you can travel. Weather makes or breaks a seven-night trip, and the months that suit the Indian Ocean are not the months that suit the Mediterranean. This is our working calendar, built around departures from Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

If you are travelling November to April

This is the Indian Ocean's window, and it happens to be the UAE's most pleasant season too. Seas are calm, humidity is low, and visibility for diving and snorkelling is at its best.

  • Maldives — 4h 15m from DXB. Overwater villas, flat seas, the most reliable sunshine of the year.
  • Seychelles — 4h 30m. Granite boulders, empty beaches, and greener and wilder than the Maldives.
  • Zanzibar and Tanzania — 5h. Beach paired with a Serengeti green-season safari and newborn wildlife.
  • Sri Lanka — 4h 30m. Tea country, wildlife, and south-coast beaches in one trip.

If you are travelling May to June

The best-value window of the year for Europe. The Mediterranean is warm, the light is long, and the crowds have not arrived. Rates in Greece and Italy are meaningfully below July and August.

  • Santorini — caldera suites before peak season pricing and cruise traffic
  • Amalfi Coast — lemon groves in bloom, coastal roads still driveable
  • Provence and the French Riviera — lavender begins late June
  • Lake Como — arguably its finest month

If you are travelling July to September

Gulf summer is the natural time to leave, and it aligns with two of the world's great travel moments: the Great Migration in East Africa and the northern European summer.

  • Serengeti and Masai Mara — Mara River crossings, roughly July to September
  • Paris and the French countryside — 7h direct, château stays and Michelin tables
  • Iceland or Norway — midnight sun, fjords, and a completely different kind of romance
  • Bali — dry season, cliffside villas, 8h from DXB

If you are travelling September to October

Our quiet favourite. The Mediterranean sea is at its warmest of the year, the crowds have gone home, and the light in Italy and Greece is extraordinary.

  • Amalfi and Capri — warm water, thin crowds, harvest season
  • Tuscany — vendemmia, the grape harvest, and the best food of the year
  • Venice — the city returns to itself once summer ends
  • Japan — early autumn colour, 9h from DXB

Choosing between them

If you want to do nothing at all, choose the Indian Ocean. If you want to move, eat, and see things, choose Europe. If you want the trip to be the story you tell for the next thirty years, choose a safari.

Whatever you choose, keep it to one or two bases. The honeymoons people remember are the ones with unhurried mornings, not the ones with four hotels.

Frequently asked

What is the best honeymoon destination from Dubai for a short flight?
The Maldives at 4 hours 15 minutes and the Seychelles at 4 hours 30 minutes are the two shortest genuinely world-class honeymoon flights from DXB, both direct.
Where should we honeymoon during the UAE summer?
July to September suits East Africa for the Great Migration, and northern Europe or the French countryside for mild weather. Avoid the Mediterranean coast at peak August pricing and heat if you can.
How long should a honeymoon be?
Seven to ten nights is the sweet spot from the UAE. Anything shorter than five nights loses too much to travel; anything longer generally benefits from a second base.
Maldives or Seychelles?
Maldives for flat calm water, overwater villas, and doing nothing. Seychelles for dramatic scenery, walkable islands, hiking, and a sense of a real place rather than a resort.
